For me, the sound of a steam whistle is comforting. Air horns just are too obnoxious. Maybe just the lower pitch .... I remember watching live convention coverage when a political party was holding it in Denver (2012?) and the UP had the Challenger there. The commentators were sitting outside doing their show when the UP loco cut loose with some whistle. Completely stopped the commentators' discussion. They had to wait until the sequence was over -- man that's power. The convention hall was a block from the station.
No surprise they decided to clean out 4014's whistle with live steam. Live steam cleaning is pretty effective.
Well, now we know why KATO chose to make a Big Boy -- to tie into this event AND be able to bring out another excursion car set. Hopefully they include a tool car this time ...
