Bowser N5 Caboose

This is a little disappointing, after all this time now Bowser is going to add the correct roof to the N5 Caboose?

I'm not sure what all this griping is about.  This is a re-run of a good model with improvements including body-mounted couplers, metal wheels, some with installed trainphone antenna, and new paint schemes and road numbers.  The roof has not changed and overall this is a relatively accurate model (are you referring to the Bowser N5C?  that model does have some proportion issues with the cupola).  The model includes correct PRR cabin car trucks.  It does need some work to make some minor improvements and given its very long life, there were many changes over time that are not reflected in the model.  Regarding the grab irons, I believe these will be cast on, as in the original release.  The HO version was upgraded with separately applied grab irons.  Bowser uses the same artwork for both HO and N, so that may be a little misleading.  Adding separate grab irons is one of the improvements needed for the N scale model.  Overall, a good model - perfect, no.  Good that Bowser has re-issued it.

It seems Ed picked up on it as he mentioned the wood chipper The one issue that does seem to be correct on the new model is the roof line. Look at your model and my models, and how much carbody there is between the top of the window and the roof. Now look at your prototype photo. I'm not trying to bash Bowser as they have been the only source for N5 and N5c cabooses, just being sarcastic about what appears to be a roof line correction on the new model.

Was the fact that these models are from all-new (or modified) molds specifically mentioned by Bowser?  All we have for now are color drawings which show a coupler which is much smaller than any N scale couplers out there. So I'm not sure how accurate those drawings are.

I have not seen any reference to new molds. Again, the artwork is the same for HO and N, so I would guess that the couplers shown are actually proportional for HO. I would also assume the the couplers will be the same as the recently re-run N5c cabins.

Since the new models are not out, are you basing the roof thought on the Bowser artwork?  I don't think that reflects the N Scale model. They could have improved the N5c roof and did not. Tooling is very expensive. The cupola for both the N5 and N5c are separate pieces, so the opportunity is there. Interestingly, Bowser does their own injection molding. I believe that they send their completed models to China for installation of the Trainphone antennae.

Since the new models are not out, are you basing the roof thought on the Bowser artwork?  I don't think that reflects the N Scale model.

This is true, I cannot remember if there was artwork on the last release or if they just showed sample models?

Just a reminder - Bowser's deadline for pre-orders is tomorrow (March 31).  Also note that this run of the N5 includes the PRR Futura scheme which has never been done before, and I don't believe there are N scale decals for this scheme either.
