Gotta remember that most of those were built in WWII.  Built um cheap and fast.  More years ago than I care to remember the barracks at Great Lakes Naval Training Center (boot camp) still had these.  They were just tearing down some and replacing with more modern brick and concrete structures.

I lived in these for 3 months when I first got to Diego Garcia in 76

I wasn't talking about gingerbread trim, just the minimum door trim (front door) and some kind of cap on the top of the exposed outdoor walls.

Don't get me wrong, I like the structure as well as the MT's other barrack-style buildings, I'm just saying that (if I was assembling the kit) I would add a little trim to make it look more finished.

My older brother was stationed at NAS Alameda back in the late '60s, early '70s in VR30, carrier onboard delivery.

Joe .. that is funny .. we will have to compare notes ..

I worked up at air operations, launching the weather balloons .. i lived in those shacks for a little while, then moved into the new barracks ..

Loved the snorkeling, Brit Club, fishing, shelling.   were you a SeaBee?

Smoken’ Joe D’Amato has figured out how to make a wood laser cut kit that is really a one  night project. I have built many kits over the last 30 years, and I can not remember an easier kit to assemble. This was a very easy kit, and it looks great. Micro-trains.com has a winner with the Military Storehouse kit. The hardest part was cutting the roof to fit. I painted the structure with old Floquil Antique White and Roof Brown.





Just need a sign and a little bit of touch up.
