Not to mention the bookshelf roof. What would that protect?The structure looks unfinished to me, seems like it needs a lot more trim...
Gotta remember that most of those were built in WWII. Built um cheap and fast. More years ago than I care to remember the barracks at Great Lakes Naval Training Center (boot camp) still had these. They were just tearing down some and replacing with more modern brick and concrete structures.
Remember that this is a military building, not a victorian house.
