Another cool MTL Structure

I really like these nondescript buildings they're doing as part of their military series.

The Military Storehouse looks like it could form the basis for a ton of stuff.

Anyone have one and done anything with it?

Have any ideas for it?

I'd love to see them do this same building but in cinderblock or brick, too.

That is a neat building. Very generic which is like most military style buildings were in the big buildup for WW2.

Might be great for MOW warehouse/storehouse. Could also be a decent yard structure or even an office/shop for a bulk oil dealer.

I REALLY like the idea of a cinder block version. Walthers did a new HO Grain Elevator based on the smaller concrete silo's that went up in the Midwest in about 6-70 years ago. They included a Cinderblock office with it. that was mighty close to the Cinder Block Yard offices the NKP and AC&Y put up in a bunch of places. This would be a great option too in a cinderblock form.

I think its great they incorporated the Tichy windows vice the laser cut windows. Much more scale and appealing appearance.

It is indeed a cool structure.  Does anyone know why a lot of MTLs buildings are military base-based?  I would have called that kit a LCL warehouse to appeal to a wider variety of people.

There are still a couple building that look like this at Ft Belvoir, VA.  You can still see where the tracks went up to the loading docks.  Last time I was there they were tearing these old WWII era building down for new construction.

Maybe because they are pretty easy to do. Not a huge amount of intricate detail. Plus, lately they seem to be doing a fair amount of military stuff. Troop Sleepers, Army nand DODX flats and loads,

Probably the most popular "theme" we do...and had a ton of requests for more.  I am trying to keep them somewhat nondescript so they can be used anyplace.  Most of my inspiration comes from the buildings on the Presideo in San Francisco and those over on the Marin Headlands.

I just picked up a kit, going to make it a supply company. It has Gradt Line windows and a preprinted cardstock roof.

this is the warehouse area at Fort Meade Md .. notice the line of buildings.  back in the day, this was served by a B&O branch line coming off the Metropolitan Sub, which also joined the PRR in Odenton .. The B&O freight station is also still on base.  to the left, past the ugly concrete structure ..

Agreed. I was thinking about building a scale 12x60 dock with a ramp, that way, I can spot a pair of 40 foot boxcars.

Not to mention the bookshelf roof. What would that protect?

The structure looks unfinished to me, seems like it needs a lot more trim...
