Yes, they're responsible for me being in N scale. Christmas of 1967, I received a 000 train set. At ten years old, it wasn't too successful, as I didn't have the skills to correct all of the deficiencies, but it was a train. My first real N scale car was a Trix (Aurora) 40 ft gon, which convinced me that small trains would work. At that time Bailey's was on south 4th St, in the middle of the block. In the 70s they moved to Clark St, west of 4th, about two blocks from where they had been. After we left the area they moved to the Kennewick Highlands, off what's now US 395, and then disappeared. I think I was in their Kennewick store once, probably in 81 or 83.
For those who remember 000, did you ever try mixing its hook couplers with Rapidos? They would work together with a little bending of the hooks!
