I have that exact car, I bought from some Modutrak dude in Madison......still trying to figure out how to make it "OK"

As a relatively new convert to N, I've been building the freight fleet up by buying mostly used equipment. I've only recently begun buying new items, but I'll be grabbing a couple of these with C&NW road numbers.

Sure would have liked landing a half-dozen of Intermountain's next run of PFE reefers. Surprised to see they were "sold out" well before the pre-order deadline. Lesson learned.

The war emergency car is nothing but an AAR car with wooden sides to save steel, so it makes sense for IM to make this.  They have the roof, ends, doors and underframe already.  All they had to do was tool a new body, and maybe a new door style.

It appears to be the same prototype as what the Roco model is based on.

           Con Cor also offered a War Emergency Box Car. Without digging mine out of storage I do not remember if was better than the Roco car.I do know that the Union Pacific paint scheme on it never matched any one found on UP Cars. Nate Goodman (Nato).

Secretly I'm trying to re-accumulate some of the earlier stuff I had...  I went to a Greenberg show in Towson back in 19diggity doo and bought a whole tray of those things... the yellow Muncie and Western, Great Northern, the MDC ice reefers...  I've held on to a couple of them, but a bunch of them ended up on the scrap heap, their underframes stolen for other projects, or their shells sacrificed to the scenery department...

I've been active in the hobby for a few years, mostly at the workbench but in that time I've modified, kitbashed or scratch built a few cars.
I need to get the layout underway though.  When that day comes, I'll have most of the structures and trees already finished.  That's one way to look at it, I guess.
