What else did these haul besides plastic pellets?

I'd be surprised if they ever WERE used for plastic pellets.

Anything dry and powdery. Cement and talc the most common commodities for this type of car.

If memory serves me correct, the Penn Central leased these cars (class H58) for 15 years from 1974 to 1989.  I remember seeing a string of these cars lined up on Conrail's Fort Wayne Line just east of Conway Yard in Sewickley, PA in 1989.  I assume they were gathering them to return to the leasor.  My father took a few photos that I have here somewhere.  I would be in for multiple PC's and CR's.  Those early NAHX schemes would work for me also.  Thanks.

I'd probably spring for a NYC or PC, or that demo scheme. This despite the fact that I have no idea if these rolled through the southeast.

The mines north of Havelock ship Nepheline Syenite, which is a sandlike material. I can't say that these PD3000's were ever up there, but I saw a number of newer PD's up there today. Another possible commodity for these cars as NATX and NCHX marked cars are in Havelock all the time.

Wasn't there one group of cars out west leased from NAHX with the lessee "White Water Building Materials" on them - could swear I saw them on the DRGW back in the  1990's...

I dont think Southern Railway had any(at least I can't find any pics if they did). But I would still like some in a couple of  private road names.

Norfolk Southern had some of the larger 5 bay cars I believe.
