For a project like the bus, outsourcing to Microscale works. For something like the White Castle, if the intent is to leave it for sale on Shapeways in perpetuity, you may want to consider having a file available. Microscale seems to get impatient and cancels N scale 'quickly'. Just something to mull over.

There are no decals with the White Tower.  Spray it with white gloss, add various nick-nacks on the counters, and highlight the details with various paints.

The shared effort of creating artwork and presenting it to Micro-Scale sounds like a good idea.
