Oh man, I heard that was wild out there.

Did you hear the story about the PM Berk? It was supposed to be working that weekend, but I think one of the tubes started leaking. It's a real heart breaker for its crew. But that's what gives steam its charm, right?

Ed, yeah not seeing the Pere Marquette 1225 run was a bummer. I was railfanning at the historic station in Durand on Friday and didn't get to see her run as she blew the tube that night heading for the nightime photoshoot. I rode one of the hourly excursions on Saturday pulled by Little River Railroad #110 and went up in the cab of SP 4449. It was probably the best steam show I'll ever see in my lifetime.

It was definitly wild out there. I was talking to a local police officer on Saturday and he was telling me all of the stories they were telloing back at the station between themselves and the State Boys. I think the wildest one he talked about was a minivan the Michigan State Police pulled over after it went by them at 90MPH with the side door open and someone hanging out the side with a video camera and holding on with his other hand.  :o
Check out my website (listed under the web tag) for railfanning pictures from 32 states, D.C., and Ontario. Current locomotive count: 5772!

My current sig (below) has 1225 in the background.  We ride the 'polar express' every year, and occasionally their excursions.

However, 1225 has been challenged of late, getting old sucks.

I just read the latest TRP which has a feature on Marias Pass helpers (F Units) on BN in the late 1970s.

Sometimes I think if I grew up out west I'd be modeling BN late 1970s! 8)

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

Thanks Carl. I thought I would see you roll up testing a car on the 5th when I was there for the circus train. I'm going to go down to Williamsburg on the 26th and try and catch the Blue Unit on its way from Hampton, VA to Providence, RI. I don't trust CSX to get it up to Alexandria or St. Denis during daylight.  ;D
