Sure regret missing the show. It was on the table... along with twenty other things. Lfe in a condo applies extra layers of responsibilities, and this weekend was dominated by condo s-plus-hit.

pfft... amateur.  i have a newborn and was still able to get to the show.   ;D

We have several buildings in our community that are in the midst of structural repairs owing to faulty construction discovered >12 years after they were built (just passing the 10-year statute of limitations, so there is no one we can sue, so we all eat 100% of the repairs). If they are not repaired soon, they may be condemned by the township as uninhabitable, with consequences we don't want to even begin to contemplate. The repairs are pushing an estimated $1.5 million, which requires a 60% residential vote-in and a special assessment of over $6,300 to every homeowner. Just to mess things up even more, there was a 50% board turnover after elections three nights ago, with some serious politics threatening to derail the entire structural repair plan. We've got buildings falling down around our ears, a board split in two halves that are at war with each other, and two nights left for us volunteers to canvas the neighborhood drumming up support for the vote, which is probably going to fail anyway, sending the Board back to the drawing board for new repair plans, which will set us back another ~$3,600 just for a new set of engineering estimates, not to mention lawyer and consultant fees... and it goes on, and on and on...

A newborn would be child's play by comparison.

I missed seeing Jerry Britton, but apparently he's still coaching football.

Saturday was the last game of the season. With a holiday last Monday, I finally got back into the train room for the first time since your visit at the end of June!!! I put up 24' of benchwork on the upper level and ran out of framing wood with only 6 feet to go! I bought more, and plan to finish it up this Wednesday, when weekly evening work sessions resume.

Plan to also run all the wiring buses through the upper level this week. Just put in an order for turnouts and Tortoises, so things will be moving quick now!

I have the same rule. I'm not living here by choice.

Yeah, I gutted a house that looked just like that, long time ago. How about this one: I found knob-and-tube wiring in the attic... still live!

I can do pretty much what I want inside the house.  This room will become the interim Master while I tear up our room.  Between this stuff inside, and painting the outside, I think I'd just as soon pay a condo fee!

Brother In law had a Condo about 7 years ago ,  before his new monster house in Monroe NY . He got fed up with the 500 smackers a month maintenance fee .
