Intermountain stock car - new tooling

Very nice, but WHAT ever happened to the IMRC 60' modern flatcar?????  ??? ???

I asked Matt about it at the during the tour as part of last year's NSC convention; he said there were still "producibility issues" with it, and it was on his list of things to work on after the convention.

I see to recall somebody posted a note either here or on Atlas after this year's Springfield Show that the Intermountain rep was quoted as saying they had just about finished the 60' flat and was planning (hoping?) to announce it by the end of this year.

Just had my run in with the Atlas mafia!

Had a three page thread going on the IM stock cars. I started it, with pics of the six versions, asking which would be right for my 1954 modeling. Had some excellent prototype data ensue... determing that only the "Mid" version was right for me out of the box, but the "Late" could be adapted with a few dabs of paint.

Anyway, the Topic was deleted because of the photos. We are no longer allowed to post photos for comparison as we ask questions about them!!!

Up until then, I was ready to defend Atlas. But that's getting absurd!!!

Next thing you know, Atlas is going to want licensing fees if we want to talk about their products here!!!

These cars look great - when would the last of these have been built ? Late 50's?

Ouch!  Smackdown.  Too bad some good discussion was squelched.  I'm wondering about the ATP for these cars as well -- I'll have to check out the A-board...

At first I wasn't sure what the big deal was, but they really are cracking down on freedom of the press over their in Atlasistan.  It doesn't bode well for the health of their forum.  I signed up with the AristoCraft forum after I started messing with the garden layout, but never went back when I saw that they outright forbid the discussion of any products but their own.

What a yawning festival that turned out to be.

I dare say that Jerry's inquiry was innocuous enough, and not out of line with what numerous others have posted throughout the years.  It wasn't a product announcement, mearly a question about the appropriateness of an available model within the era he models.

Of course, you know Jerry is always looking to snake us with a back handed announcement about what he's got in stock over at the Merchandise Service page...  But we still love him!! ;D

Lee's right - it's  "crack down" over in Atlas-stan and an unexplained one to boot. I guess I and others want to know what the genesis of it is.... seems a tad odd to me and I assume, a few others...regarrdless, it has done some damage....

Back to ATSF stock cars - does anyone know if there was a re-build program on these and when it might have been ?

Not being an ATSF guy, I can't say for sure... but I can say welcome to the Railwire, Pud!!  I enjoy your posts over at SRO, and the caliber of your modeling (and sense of humor) is what makes the 'wire hum.

Randy Gustafson (randgust) stops in here periodically, and may be able to field your ATSF questions...
