So UP's America 250 Locomotive is this thing?

I actually know a small amount about 1876, as I have a friend working on modeling it! From what he has told me, it seems like it was very much an individual by individual basis, and I mean that literally. He has told me that individual crews would decorate their locomotives with bunting, ribbons, paint, and so on, but there were no big pushes from the companies themselves that he's aware of.

George Bush was also on the UP board of directors at the time.  I kind of don't mind that one from a historical sense because I bet in 50 years it will be the only SD70ace in original pristine condition.  If a Pennsy T1 had been preserved in the 1950s just because it had had the word Truman painted on it, would anyone care about that part about it today? I doubt it.  We'd just be glad it had been preserved.

Just saw a video of 4014 east of Chicago... they picked up NS 1776.....

The video showed 4014, NS 1776 then panned past UP 1776 to the cars, then back to the 250 logo for 1 second then back to the cars...

Now that all the Class 1 railroads have unveiled their 250th Anniversary paint schemes, UP deserves an F for obviously doing it's homework in a hurry on the way to school on the day that it was due. No merger for you.

IMO, UP overuses the American flag on a daily basis. The shield and wings are fine, but slapping a flag on almost every loco is kinda desperate. I hope the taxpayers are getting some sort of royalty on UP’s compensation.

Honestly, I'm most offended by the fact that they let them get trashed and ratty.

Personally, I really do not like slapping the US flag on everything to try and patriotwash whatever thing you're doing, but if you're going to do it, at least don't make it look like the thing has been lit on fire.

At least we were spared another mug of Dear Leader.  As has been demonstrated at the Kennedy Center, names can easily be removed with a little determination and some elbow grease.  Apart from that blemish, it is a dynamic paint scheme. 

Perhaps, like our eventual history books, it will be replaced with an asterisk, or simply be redacted with some black tape...

I support our rights under the 1st Amendment.

I do get offended when I see tattered U.S. flags flying high. I like our flag and feel it deserves a bit of respect (when you aren't otherwise burning it  ).

UP is running a fully restored Big Boy around the country and we're thinking they put less effort in than railroads that only painted a locomotive?

This is a stretch, boys.  Let's not be the group that yells at clouds and squirrels as we age (gracefully).
