Excellent modeling!

I completed the last car for the @Baldylox Relco vegitation spray train. Now to finish the loco… the windows are just tinted. It doesn’t come through well on the photo, but it ended up matching the prototype pretty well.

The train tied up in Hagerstown for the riders to do some railfanning before heading home later in the day.

I mostly was testing the layout's trackwork this week in anticipation of painting it in the near future; I want to make sure it's reliable before putting paint on it.  I did receive some bags of ballast to test as well (N scale Arizona Rock & Mineral) which looks promising but has a lot of too-large chunks for Z scale.  I ordered some sieves (100 and 60 mesh) to screen it.  I have some neodymium magnets that I'll run through the mix as well to catch any bits of ferrous metal or rock.

I also started working on the 3D flat of the Zumbiel Packaging factory which is a curtain wall style factory.  It'll be a "sectional" type of build with panels that can be changed around to suit the desired configuration.  Here's a test of a "proof of concept" and test for the wall panel.  The actual sections will be taller.  I'm planning to try using Archistories Z-scale brick sheet for the brick panels.

I received another shipment of etched enclosure panels for the autoracks.  A bit of an issue has cropped up since these are alo curled (my working theory is the stainless steel they used came from rolls, which impart a curl to the etchings).  They are still usable since I can "counter-bend" the panels but I'm hoping I can get the etcher (Ponoko) to use dead flat stock or otherwise solve the issue, because they did a great job on the actual etching and it's reasonably priced when you do a whole 384mmx384mm (15"x15") sheet.

Amongst other things, got a bunch of Sea-Land 35' files ready (and uploaded to Cults3d for that tiny group of modelers who dabble in the late 1960s and early 1970s and have a printer...)

About all that's missing are a couple of varieties of insulated containers, tank containers, the rag top, and car carriers. Presently available models include the 22 post, 16 post, 17 post, flat rack, insulated, and a suitable chassis. Soon, hopefully: two different versions of reefer.

Could use a bunch of your 22 post containers for an SS Ideal X container ship build.

What are the Cults3d links for these?

There's a spot anywhere in Hagerstown that is single tracked?

Want to use some of the inexpensive IR sensors but they are too big and bulky for where you need them? I found some 1206 SMD (really small) emitters and photo-resistors that will work with the $1.00 IR sensor modules.

You remove the emitter and sensor from the board and wire the 1206 SMD's to the board. Now the board can be out of sight and the 1206's placed in inconspicuous locations.

More info here on RailWire or my sitemy site on how to do this and the cost is about $3.00 total.

I might want those files if you've got a link or are willing to send.

I'm digging this. I'm working on design of a couple warehouse type structure right now. Any pictures of the prototype?
