I know this is really pushing the weekend at this point but I did just received the $170 worth of peppermints and dum-dum suckers I ordered from Scale Trains.

They must have appreciated that so much, they threw in a rivet counter CNW SD40-2 with sound as a free gift.

This is only my third Scale Trains locomotive but seriously these are NICE looking engines.  I'm am worried I am now ruined on anyone else's product.

Right?? That's why I immediately sold my Southern SD40-2.

Those Conrail ones I got, however, are going to continue unabashedly peacocking around the place.

No new modeling to speak of this week, as I started my vacation, with my daughter. She graduated high school the middle of last month and her gift from me for the accomplishment is a trip back to germany. About the time we started planning this trip, my ex-wife, her mother, contacted me and told me that they were planning a surprise cruise around the Western Mediterranean for her for her graduation, and offered for me to tag along, as long as I was able to extend my leave. She was nice enough to put me on their reservation, so I got a huge discount on the cruise. I would not been able to afford it without that. So currently I sit here in Barcelona getting ready to head to the port. The hotel we picked is across the street from the Barcelona Main station.

The only model train thing I have to contribute this week, is a new purchase. I've always made it a habit of trying to buy a freight car, or something from everywhere I have traveled. This is my third time in Spain, but I was never able to pick up anything representing the Spanish railroads. We had some free time yesterday and my daughter and I managed to come across a model train shop. So I picked up these freight cars.

I might have visited that store when we were there before our cruise last October.  If it was Anton Palau Pomar, it was on Carrer de Balams just 2 blocks from Hotel Sansi where we spent three nights before the cruise.  Nice little store and staff, unfortunately I couldn't really find anything suitable for my collection.  I regret not buying something as a souvenir.  The staff was very friendly and patient.
