Close up of SOUTHWEST LUMBER, which is modeled after DILL LUMBER in Hemet, CA.

Was gifted a digital 1:24 scale Cat D4 stake puller for my RBB&B circus consist this week, and I scaled it down to see how much of the intricate detail would render.  Amazingly, all of it did.  The model is painted and decaled, with just Dullcoat and weathering to add.  This gem is only an inch long.

I tried to Pennsy-fy up a Walthers "Trackside Structures" interlocking tower for a T-Trak module I'm working on:

I mean, it's hardly a Pennsy prototype but it kinda looks like it could be. To help the illusion I boarded up the rear window on the second level as was common on PRR towers in the early 50s. Normally the window trim would remain painted the darker brown color.

Also, I got a set of fiber-optic PRR position light signals from https://www.modeltraintechnology.com/. More about them on my layout engineering thread.

Bryan--What did you use for yellow paint on your CAD D4?
Best regards,

Roger

Those treads and that engine need weathering, at least.

Bryan,
Was this old Cat Yellow (Hi-Way Yellow) or new Caterpillar Yellow?   Caterpillar changed from Hi-Way Yellow to Caterpillar Yellow in 1979 according to the link below.

I guess it’s current Cat yellow. It’s academic for me since I weather everything.

Those treads and that engine need weathering, at least.

I did write that the clear coat and weathering remained to be done.

These are what those decals were for.

You can make amazing progress when you don't have to work from a specific prototype!

Dave, That tower is a B&O prototype.  It is a bit "off" in that the fishscale shingle section does not flare outward, and the windows are not 3 panes., but it is really close configuration and construction.  And those colors are B&Oish,  approx end-of-steam time frame.

I remember Pennsy towers mostly from the northeast corridor, and they were much different looking.  I tried a search and got https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Interlocking_towers_of_the_Pennsylvania_Railroad

Some are sort of similar, particularly https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Alto_Tower#/media/File:Alto_Tower_(13095060453).jpg

and https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Bowie_Tower#/media/File:Bowie_Rail_Station.jpg may not even be Pennsy.

I'm impatient.
