I really don't know what people think some times with these auctions.  There is a 15-20% buyers premium added to final price, plus the shipping includes packaging fees as well (paying for boxes, material and labor) so it's up to double what normal shipping is.  It's not just stout, it's all the online auctions (Cabin Fever, local auction houses I watch, HiBid).  And some of this stuff I can go online or walk into my LHS and pay for it off the shelf with a discount.  Makes no sense

I tired, but with the buyers premium then shipping I bowed out. It was more of a want than a need purchase anyways.

I was very interested in it too but same same. Other lots too. Everything got too expensive. For me I have to add USD to CDN exchange and additional shipping to Canada so it has to be a really good price to be worthwhile. I’ve had success in the past but not this time.

I pre bid on several items, but w/ 226 bidders online today it quickly got too rich for my wallet.

This was a steal for whomever won this auction. The ABA set of LL Erie Built's alone us uber-rare. I have purchased one for A unit for more than the whole auction.

I was contemplating bidding on the Aerotrain set, but once it got north of $250 I was out.  And how about that Hiawatha set?

 I thought the same thing,  I was shocked by how much this set sold for. Was this the original  set or the re-issue from several years ago?

Not sure if it’s worth that much but that is the original run.

I thought the brass OMI Schnabel car was pretty cheap at about 500.

They often go for $1,000 plus.

I guess I'm lucky.   Since I live in Indiana, if I'm interested in any of their listings and really want to bid, I can drive up to Lafayette, where their auction house is.   Save on shipping and the only things that bothers me is that BUYERS PREMIUM [ouch!]
