This has my interest peaked, piqued or however it's spelled and pronounced. My surname is Boulton so I want to know about these supposed shops. Normally you see it spelled Bolton, the 'U' is uncommon.

Boulton appears to be the correct spelling - the shops were in the Richmond area.

@johnb and who ever else is interested, found that the January 1962 Model Railroader has a RF&P caboose diagram. Don't know if it is the pre WW1 era caboose we have been discussing or if it is the WWII ones. Additionally, the November/December issue of Diesel Era has an article on RF&P wooden cabooses. If anyone has these issues, could they confirm the topic of those articles?
