At least this week's items are a little bit more interesting, SD40-2 snoots (albeit at list prices)

That must be the MAP price.

Nope... That's the price... Keep in mind this is old stock from 16 years ago so quantities are likely limited...

Still not a bad price, If I wasn't trying to be a good boy I'd be tempted...

Think anyone questioned the comment on the item listings saying that the models were last produced in 2000, like " Maybe we ought to look at another run/different roadnames ?"

Not much of a sale. My sarcasm didn't come through. $98 is not a good price for a 16 year old engine.

Even if the boxes still have the original Kato Factory Air in them? Oh wait, those are not MTL models.  :D  I don't know - if you consider 16-years-worth of inflation, $98 might not be a bad price.

These are old stock shells that were held back for warranty purposes many years ago (but never utilized) mated to the latest run SD40-2 early (in this case Wisconsin and Southern) SD40-2 mechanisms.

MAP has nothing to do with these...just a Kato parts department special.  :)

Enjoy!

Those SD40-2 snoots in Union Pacific sure look tempting.  I own a short nosed UP SD40-2 early that I bought when they came out almost 2 years ago.  It runs great and much more prototypical speed range than most of my other Kato diesels, but not quite as slow as my Atlas scale speed motor diesels.  Also, it has traditional bolt and nut fasteners holding the frame halves together, not clips like my BN late SD40-2 with Kato ditch lights. As late as 2012, the real snoots were sometimes seen on the UP lines in Fort Worth TX area.

Will there be a Wisconsin and Southern SD40-2 shell sale? :D

Sure...probably 15 years from now.

Plenty of complete WSOR units floating around.

Enjoy!
