Not the first time I've heard this.

A good tip in general for paints. 'Cept when you have a spouse who sometimes doesn't hammer the lid on all the way.

I have used basically any brand of lacqer thinner, though I try to avoid the "earth friendly" type...I have always used lacqer thinner with my accupaint, I started doing so about 25-30 years ago......and some bottles I have are from that time, and it has never "hurt" the paint.....

The Trucolor version of  MEC yellow was just too orange for my taste, when compared to the Accupaint version.....It could probably be fixed with some reefer yellow....

I made a great match for Atlas diesels using Testors enamels "yellow"  and "tangerine", about 50/50....

Lacquer thinners often contain acetone. They also contain bunch of other ingredients. Different bends have different formulas (which can be seen reading the ingredients list on the can).  Yes, lacquer thinners will work with any solvent-based paint (Accu Paint, Tru Color and even Floquil), but I still prefer using the thinner specifically made for the paint.

I will also never store paint upside down. I don't like the fact that the pigment gets settled in the neck of the bottle.   Since I clean the seal and bottle lip every time I use the paint, that would be removing concentrated pigment (diluting the paint every time I open it). My aluminum seals and clean bottle lip works just as well for me.

I use Dupli-Color lacquer thinner. It is 100% ACETONE. and all my paint I use is true color and I still have 40 bottles of accu-paint.

Oh, and store a couple ball bearings in each bottle to speed up the process.
You should not be losing much pigment, but then you did elude to maybe a bit of OCD?
Funny as a bit is a good thing, as I admit some here, but that instance is not currently rattling me...

Not sure if is is just OCD, but I definitely march to the beat of my own drum.    Of course I put ball bearings in my paint bottles (or glass beads in water-based paints).  Still, no upside down bottles for me.
