I've never used magnetic uncoupling, having adopted KDs as a teenager of limited means. Magnets looked like a waste of money, and none of my layouts have been wide enough that I couldn't uncouple by hand. I'll admit that there are places it would be nice, but forty years later I'm still too cheap to buy magnets...
