Yeah, I saw this message on the web on October 26th, 2012

I am back in business and am ready to take orders as i got my printer this week

Tom Stolte

Oddballs Decals

http://mopac1.tripod.com/oddballs3.htm

since November is model railroad month and decals are 50% off, just write internet special on the order form

So I immediately emailed to remind him of my outstanding order and to get an update on when he thought it would be filled.

Almost 4 months later still no reply and no decals in hand.

To the member that contacted me about L&N decals.

Could you please send the message again, it ended up in my spam folder and was inadvertently deleted before I could read/respond.

Thanks,

Mike

The BBB gives the Oddballs Decals business an "F" for having 6 complaints against him,
failing to respond to 4 of them, and failing to respond to inquiries from the BBB  to verify background information
about the business.

I like to give anyone the benefit of the doubt in these types of situations (see Traincat Bob, and there have been a dozen other legit types of situations over the past decade plus since I've been back in the hobby) where a one-man show has health or other issues.   But, from all reports this guy needs to start communicating his intentions soon, and I certainly would not order from him at this point until things clear up.  (I almost did back in October when he posted he was back, since his November sale was enticing.)   If he had a two year backlog and just started playing catchup then I can see it being a bit before he digs out, but he should let folks know what is going on.

I ordered a fairly large order of n-scale BNSF decals and a few others from him a little over three years ago and had zero problems.

Not trying to defend him...I believe it's good to get everything out in the open, let everyone know the scope of folks affected, and alert folks so more people don't send in money.   But I just hate to see these posts morph into a witch hunt that starts spreading like wildfire.  (and I'm not saying anyone here is doing that, btw)  If he's a good guy that's going through some issues, it won't help.  If he's a conniving jerk, he won't care.

Exactly!  I've been giving him every benefit of the doubt.  I've not filed anything with the BBB or even asked for a refund yet, but after almost two years some honest communication would certainly be nice!

At this point I'm assuming I'll never see my 40.00 bucks back OR the decals.  I'll just source them from another vendor and write the whole experience off as a lesson learned.

I just wanted to pass the word.

I’m with Mike. Some honest communication from this guy would be nice. I am as forgiving as the next train dude, but it really seems like he is just keeping the money and that’s it. Two years of leading me on believing that he will send the decals out any day is just wrong.

Doug, my intention was not to morph this post into a witch hunt. I do feel cheated by this guy and I hope others take notice before they order from him, but in the end if he sends out the decals or a refund I will gladly retract my statement.

Chris/Mike et al,

Sorry I really wasn't accusing anyone...just wanted to keep it from going down that path.   I know that you and a lot of others have money tied up in this and it's not right for him to just ignore everyone.   I've been in a similar situation so trust me I know how you're feeling.

Guys,
At this point, we need to let it go.  I'm not a mod, but if I were, I'd lock the thread at this point.

Thanks for keeping a tough conversation civil.
