Interesting that the SI had a GN caboose, since it ended up owned by the UP.  I wonder if the caboose made it into UP paint?

"I wonder if the caboose made it into UP paint?"

Maybe... C10 and C11 were retired in June of 1959, C9 made it until Dec 1962.  There also were three ex-NP cabooses as well.  Roster information can be found on Don Strack's Utah Rails website...

I do not know about the Spokane International's former GN caboose making it into UP paint.  The source that I have is Clive Carter's book: "The Spokane International Railway."  On Page 148, there is a photo of a GN caboose that has been painted in SI paint.  The caption reads, "Upgrading of the caboose fleet began in 1950 with the purchase of three secondhand 25' cars on steel underframes from the Great Northern."  Due to the guessed age of the caboose when purchased by the SI, I would doubt if it made it into UP paint, but weirder things have happened.

Only a few of the GN's made it to BN, so it would be unlikely that it was painted for UP, but that would be an oddity for a UP modeler who wants "everything".
