I love that Rio Grande Southern C-19 2-8-0 in large scale. I've always had a "thing" for the RGS.
I was just looking at the above PDF file, specifically at the N-Scale Alco S-4 information. This is what caught my and raises more questions than answers:S4 DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE (DCC EQUIPPED)All new tooling.Features include:• die-cast gear towerDoes anyone have any idea why a die-cast gear tower would be a desired feature? I have to assume that die-cast means some type of metal and not plastic. What other current production locomotives use a die-cast gear tower? Thanks for any informationMark
Probably just an attempt to get as much weight as possible in the loco. For the same reason Atlas went with a diecast long hood.
