That looks great Chuck.  I have a need for a very similar backdrop on my 'descent into Mojave' shelf and I'd love see some details on what you did, especially your source for images.

Gary - Those are digital camera shots on I-8 as the highway ascends
the grade from The Imperial Valley to Jacumaba. I took a series of
8 shots in a row, overlapping each time. I did that in early 2009, knowing
they would come in handy. Big problem...seams...I have an area disguised
by the water tank where the color is not right from panel to panel. I just
printed them on paper, cut them out and rubber cemented to the painted
masonite. Lee is right, blue is the best, no more clouds for me. I have
to fix some scene changes with over laps cut out from the pics. You are
welcome to the shots, I can email them to you.

They are on the blog in order of use...I tried butting them
together in PAINT and butting them in the natural place
where they go together and they look pretty good. Think
I'm gonna re do them that way.

psst...it's me again!! 

Well our company email is going through weekend maintenance so emails are slow (which is where the latest picture of the latest layout is), anyway it's a small mockup of an industrial spur that runs through my hometown here, the Jacksonville and Northwestern Industrial spur. It is currently handled by the Arkansas Midland Railroad, and services four industries in just under 3 miles of trackage.

My rendition is on a small door (24x80) with 11" and 9-3/4" curves. It's flat, nothing special just yet. The thought was to put this together and display it in our front window for the Christmas season. Some rain, a little snow, and a lot of work (and leading our churches music department and rehearsing for the Christmas Cantata) has taken quite a bit of time, but I have all the trackage down for the layout.

It's all Atlas c80 (what I had on hand for now), and it's pretty basic.
Wanted to get a few quick pics on here and then will be reading all suggestions and advice from there. I just wanted to get this on here while I had time...haven't been on here in a while!
