"Stopgap" products from NZT

Since I originally posted this announcement on the HO/HOn3/O/On3/Z forum, I imagine some N scalers may have missed it.

I have a small number of new N scale detailing items that are now available from NZT dealers: http://www.nztproducts.com/dealers.htm

Note that our very own Chulvis is now an NZT dealer, although at the moment he's in the midst of moving his shop, so there will be some delay before he has these in stock. (If you cannot wait, please try Stonebridge Models.)

These are essentially little "stopgap" products to get the wheels greased as I prepare for more significant products to come--an announcement will be made on 1 November of something that should be considerably more interesting to N scalers than just a bunch of tie stacks.

Just some constructive observations. I have been looking at the sample pics. There is something 'just not right' to my eye. I think what is throwing it off is...

The ends if the ties...both on the new and the used. They should be 'smoother' IMHO. The rough cut lumber look of the ends just isnt 'prototypical. Other then that...they look awesome. Just my .02...thnxs

they may look unprototypical to you, but CSX sure is putting out a lot of badly cut ties these days, and the ends of the old one are spot on to what I've seen stacked in gons.  Perhaps its a regional/supplier thing.

Thank you for your comments; I appreciate all feedback. I happen to agree with you, particularly with respect to the new ties. If this product should prove popular enough to warrant re-mastering, I will take this into account. In fact, I've been trying to come up with a way of simulating the plates on the ends of most new ties presently.

For as beat to ***** as those ties are in the used tie stack, the ends are actually pretty prototypical for a 50yr old or so tie. My crews routinely pull ties that...rarely even come out whole!

I've been trying to come up with a way of simulating the plates on the ends of most new ties presently.

I had that same thought about those plates/treatment when I first saw the model compared to the respective proto photos.  I'm not prepared to say the ends are so bad...I think it probably has more to do with the HO-size photos of an N item.  I wonder if I could print some "checkerboard" decals that could be applied to the ends to represent the slight color variations.   Anyway, I am impressed--especially the used ties which I think are spot on and incredible looking--and placed an order today...and probably will wish I'd bought more than I did.

Received my ties today, and as I surmised they look even better at normal size than the oversized photos.  Great products and I eventually hope to get more.  A variation of the used tie load would be cool, going forward.

Also, since the company I work for is heavily involved in the promotional products industry, I would be remiss if I didn't give kudos to the NZT Products emery board/"sanding stick" included in the shipment.   Very cool use of a promotional product!  Not to mention that it actually will come in handy.

Not sure if I can utilize the used ties on the Milwaukee Road in the 1970s. These would probably qualify as mainline replacements! DKS, your products are very well done and I look forward to your future releases.
