I just talked to Steve. He said it was PGBowler2 who referred him to the photo dealer. PGBowler2 was "checking out the tools" (whatever that means) at the show and saw the photo dealer nearby.

Did those CASO cars ever make it south of the border intro the U.S.  If so, where would you have normally seen them?

This one is noted as being in Rochester, NY, 1968. IIRC, there is a shot in the book 'Canada Southern Country' of a CASO hopper, and it is in Temagami (ONR) ore service.

Did those CASO cars ever make it south of the border intro the U.S.  If so, where would you have normally seen them?

Yes, both the CASO offset and 14-panel cars are the same as our models. We will definitely be doing both before long. I think someone emailed us saying they were often found in the US on NYC and P&LE rails.

Good to hear, Craig. The CASO, while obscure, was neat and is somewhat of an armchair sport with Ontario foamers... by that I mean second guessing it's fate and lamenting the fact it is largely a path now. No use for my modeling, but I'll be getting some CASO cars none the less 

On the inner part of the dust cover of 'Canada Southern Country', there is a shot of a CASO hopper in Englehart, ON., on the Ontario Northland in the 1960's. It may very well have been in iron ore service, or I could have been hauling coal off the NYC to an industrial customer.

EDIT: The circle note on the cars say "Return to C.N.R via Buffalo. For ore loading Bake, Ontario, Canada". I think it says Bake, can confirm. Ore it is.

I appreciate the detail photo you provide for the brake cylinder and such. Considering you can do that, would you entertain a more to-scale manual turnout control (grooound throw) so we can rid ourselves of the unfortunately oversized ones in use now?

So you are looking for something near scale to actually throw the switch rather than a switch stand that may move but requires an another mechanism to actually do the work? Hmm. Would have to look into that.
