Hmm, the cab numberboards are too "squinty" - typical Kato ...†  ::)

(still gettin one though  ;D )

On the paint, I was never happy with the color on my pumpkin C44 ...

Mark (whiner!)

Number boards too squinty just like on the long hoods of the Kato tooled Atlas GP30/35, Kato SD40, SD40-2, and SD45 - maybe others ...

How often did these run on the Peavine in the 1970's, Mark?

They were pooled with ex-Wabash F7s frequently. ;)

Mark <-- does not model the Peavine

With all due respect - Kato does a lot better job in maintaining color - from release to release - even if it starts off incorrectly...

With all due respect, you're not paying attention to Kato's warbonnet releases.  They've ranged from Milwaukee Road Maroon (I touched up the paint on a detailed set of earlier Kato ATSF PA's with Modelflex Milw Rd Maroon, as deep and dark a red as there is) to the more recent, and awful,  orange-red releases similar to what is on the Dash-9 above.  The F-units have gone through the same color spectrum with F's PA's and Dash-9's falling anywhere in between that spectrum.

Close enough... at least I put the subtle clues together to deduce Mark models the N&W  :P

Yeah, I model mailnly 1970-1975, followed by 1955. I also have some "token" "modern" equipment.

But yeah, the war bonnet C44s have rolled on the pokey, but in some other decade than the one you mentioned. 8)
