I wonder if IM would be better if they would scale back?  Atlas has their act together better than anyone, with a large assortment of knowledgeable people (Paul, Cory - or Corey as he is known by the Atlas forum contributers), yet they never offer more than a few numbers at a time.  There is a good reason for this, I suppose.

As to the 89' flats, I understand that these are hell on 9.75" radius curves. The whole N scale market is not made up of modern era modelers with 18" radius and above curves. I model the prewar steam era and have 7" radius curves on my portable layout.

Perhaps IMRC would be better off announcing fewer cars and actually producing what is announced in a timely manner.

That brings it back to my original point if Intermountain cut their production ten fold, made the cars in house & charged 25%-50% more perhaps they'd have the turnaround MT has...
I just don't think it's fair to either company to compare them...

Didn't get to vote; however I always liked the Trucks/Couplers from MT, there details are nice. With that being said though these days MT is getting competition from the likes of Fox Valley, Trainworks, & LBF. With detail for sure if not surpassing MT's normal????? But they still use MT parts in there Trucks & or Couplers.  Fox Valley makes there own and maybe even a better wheel set than MT.
And Athearn might have given us a N Scale Knuckle Coupler.
