Online datasheets show the engine hood width to be 5' 5" for all three models - RS-1, RS-2, RS-3.
The RS-2 was rated at 1500 HP (later models were 1600 HP). The RS-3 was 1600 HP.
RS-3 production ran only a couple of years beyond that of the RS-2.
Since they were not much newer, that would not seem to explain why the RS-3 outlasted the RS-2. Dunno!

Seems pretty straightforward to me:

RS2 (1946-1950) 383 made
RS3 (1950-1956) 1,370 made

I'm sure that reliability factor improvements were made, plus there was a hell of a lot more of them.

Hmmmmm...  I've not seen or read anything about the biggest difference in LL mechanicals from Atlas or Kato. 

Maybe I'm still living in the past (well yeah, but that's a personal problem, I prefer it.  );  The latest LLs I have are the GP20 blowouts.  The trucks suck: remove them from the frames and they will probably sit still on your worst grades.   Clean off the lube and some will roll.  All Atlas/Kato  trucks sail down a 1% or less.

Is Wallylike still in the past or have the later models recieved an upgrade? Either a new design or better quality?  ???
