Thanks Tom. I will keep this in mind, but please realize that my work wouldn't hold up well with your electron microscope close ups. Like most of us, it looks better in dim light! The Snake Track is part of the overall plan as my first module includes the junction. The Ben-Hur plant is one of my favorites with the big curving block wall. Do you have photos of it? Did you get my email the other day about the yard office?

Well, we didn't accomplish as much as I had hoped for, but we did a lot more that contributes to the finished layout than what I had proposed.

Ya seriously at the rate that you were accomplishing things earlier in the week. I think the rate of Vitamin Y was much higher with the addition Dave/Bryan, compared to the rate of building! I'm surprised things didn't go in reverse. I kid, I kid. ;D

On Saturday I went to Westminster to look at a rolling GPW chassis, which I purchased later that day. In relation to trains work, and the house hunt have zapped my motivation party in the train room after hours this week. About the only thing accomplished was dipping some shells for painting, and the regular trip to Kleins to add to the stockpile.

Actually, Lee and I rationed three Vitamin Ys a piece, but I only drank two in the short time we were working on the benchwork.  We spent a lot of time scratching our heads, dealing with the location of the roundhouse, trying to replicate DKS's plan in 3D, and figuring out how we were going to get from North Junction to the west end of the yard on the flattest grade possible.  We actually considered dropping the elevation of the helix and the west end, which would have been a lot of work.  But, thankfully, Bryan asked a seriously smart question that eliminated that idea, and I believe that the grade will work now without all the cars in the yard rolling into the turntable pit.

Our goal yesterday was, by the end of the day, to be able to run a train from one end of the layout to the other, which is something that has been impossible for over one year.  We didn't accomplish that, but that plan would have incorporated a lot of temporary benchwork, subroadbed, and trackage and, as we ultimately agreed, been a waste of time.  What we did accomplish yesterday should not only be functional, but is the final benchwork for the yard.  Lee should now be able to make those final connections himself between the west end and the benchwork we built and finish the closet's bridge section.  Hopefully, an ops session can be scheduled later in the year, because it's going to be a blast running the revised layout.

Lee and Bryan: I enjoyed hanging out and working with you both yesterday.  Hope to see you again soon.

Lee: Thanks for the scratchbuilt wood trestle from an old version of the layout!  I'm going to find it a home on the A&R.

Dave, thanks for this report, and for your efforts to keep Lee on track, as it were. I agree that temporary track would likely have been more trouble than it's worth. We're still tweaking the east end of the yard, as you know, but hopefully this will be wrapped up soon. Would love to have come down, and considered it, but there was just waaaay too much to do on my plate to break away. Maybe next time.

The two tracks that run through are the mains, the stuff that bends to the left go into the yard.

Not quit Lee.  Believe it or not, I never got to see the FA's.  They were always somewhere else but not near me.  Finally got to see them but in LI colors.
