I've had this particular Life Like car in my collection forever.  This week, I decided to make it an accurate PC car. 



I faded and weathered the car this morning.  I like how the galvanized roof turned out.

Finished my PRR Granville Brigde T-TRAK module. I think at this point, any further messing with the water surface or the underbrush might be superfluous.

Finished tender for wreck derrick. Started as Minitrix 4-6-2 tender, removed coal load, added styrene box to simulate oil tank.

This print gives you the option for a shake shingle roof. The shingles are scaled to real dimensions so the print requires a resin printer unless you have a filament printer that is capable of printing detail down to .005"/.127mm.

 

This is a really small structure at less than 1"/23mm wide so you should be able to find a place for it on about any layout. Could be used as a small flag-stop RR passenger shelter and/or a bus shelter. There were many of ones similar to these in actual use.
 


Both shelters are similar with the exception of the bracing detail.

The shingles came out better than I expected them to at this scale. Painting can really make them pop.

I'm working on a NSC 5150 boxcar. GTW purchased 150 in 1979, GTW 309550-309699. These cars have a 6' and a 10 sliding door as compared to the plug door version Atlas sells. It's a three piece design to make painting easier. The top end rib hides the joint with the roof section. There are a few more details to be added like tack board on the doors and ends. I hope to have a couple of these painted and running for Altoona next weekend.
I'm planning to use this basic design to make the CNIS 5277 boxcar with vents on the side and rectangular ribs next to the door. Stay tuned. (Similar to, but not the same as, the Atlas car.)

More exploratory work on my first backdrop at Septimus.  After evaluating the full-size paper printout of my Google Earth composite, I investigated the feasibility of projecting it onto the backdrop so I can trace and paint it.

I purchased a HY300 Pro projector which conveniently mounts on my camera tripod and connects to my laptop via an HDMI cable:




Set up was straightforward and I soon had the image projected onto my backdrop:






A few issues quickly arose:
1.  The image resolution taken from Google Earth and enlarged was relatively poor.
2.  I could not get far enough back to fill the backdrop so was several feet short in length.
3.  With daylight coming through the window, it was a little difficult to see the image.


I tried again at night with better results.  I also cut the image in half and projected one half at a time which enabled me to get the image at the correct size.

This approach looks promising.  The next step will be to attempt tracing the image onto the backdrop with chalk.

The answer is nowhere yet. I have contacted 3D Central Trains to see if they can handle fulfillment. I don't have time or space to handle selling on my own.

Nothing special, just a atlas rs1. It's not 100% correct, but close enough to do the job, they're plentiful, and they run well

I don't believe I have ever seen a Blomberg truck under a C415 - if that yellow unit next to the undec C415 is in fact such.
