BLI PRR S1 in N-scale?

In The Broadway Flyer for July 2026 from BLI this came up in the Q&A section:

Q: "Can we hope to ever see a Pennsylvania S1 in N scale?" – Rick on Facebook

A: Absolutely! Once our current run of HO scale Pennsylvania S1s has been completed and delivered, we'll begin evaluating the locomotive as a potential N scale project. We know there's a lot of interest in seeing this iconic locomotive in N scale, and it's certainly something we'd love to make happen.



As cool as that would be, I'd rather see them do an I1sa or a J1, since I would probably purchase more than 1 of each of those vs. only 1 S1.

I had one of the Oriental Limited S1 models many years ago.

It was “retail therapy” after a breakup, and was many times more than I had ever paid for a locomotive up to that point. (I think it’s the most I’ve EVER paid for a locomotive even now… but recent models are getting close.)

It was a beautiful model, and ran better than any locomotive I had up to that point.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t able to run on any but the broadest curves, so completely useless on the layout I had then.

Because of the inability to truly operate and enjoy, coupled with the circumstances under which I purchased it, it had to go.

Sold it for twice what I paid for it originally!

A BLI S1 would not carry this baggage.  I WANT ONE!!

Just make sure it's geared to run at prototypical speeds  :D  The N-Trackers will love it!.

Or they could do the I1sa 2-10-0. Pennsy only had 598 of those.

Sorry Dave, the rules clearly state that your model can only be produced if its either weird or there were at least 600 of them...

I would love to have one, even though I'm a modern desert southwest modeler. What a beautiful beast.

Of course they would make it! I have my 3d printed shell from Robert Nunes that I started working on.
