I finally finished making and planting several million (or so it felt like) super trees for my mosquito breeding pond. And as someone who just really hates everything there is to hate about modeling scenery, this was able as painful a project as it gets  :scared:

Amazingly enough, that lake was the last major project on my to-do list for this layout. So, apart from a few niggling little details here and there, I'm saying this baby is done! And gosh, it only took me 18 years  :P

Happy 4th!

Deep in my N scale funk, filling my time and interest designing items for my On30 project.  This is a hand hoist from a 1901 catalog.

I got the plaster scenery base at Septimus coloured this week:

I also received and installed the new Pullman trucks from Keystone Details on my official car:

I rebuilt an HO scale Walthers Mainline RSC-2, because the motherboard and decoder are visible in the cab windows!

BEFORE: Such a basic model locomotive doesn’t need such a huge motherboard.

AFTER: Due to the long hood’s slightly lower height, I milled the frame for some additional room and relocated the speaker, Decoder Buddy, and ESU LokSound V5.0 58429 decoder.

Success!

LEDs have also been replaced, and No. 1109 is now in service.

What technique did you use? That looks great, and I think I want to do the same with an X26.
