reset BLI decoder ??

I'm ripping out what's left of my hair. N scale BLI decoder. I tried resetting several times. I have everything working perfect but she just won't move.  headlight does flash and not just 16 times but it continues if I let it.  I'm kind of lost and I my just go with a Soundtraxx. I've installed many Soundtraxx and for me personally they go easy vs other brands.

Any other ideas to try on a reset to get the engine rolling and not just making all sounds only ??

Like many others I was so glad to hear that BLI started producing the Stealth models so they no longer forced us to get their Paragon decoders.

The problem you have might not be due to the firmware corruption (or settings) issue. It could be physical. Bad motor, broken connection to the motor, or even blown out motor driver on the decoder could cause the symptom you describe.

But then again, the constantly flashing headlight does seem to point to the decoder's firmware being corrupted.  But I'm not a Paragon expert.  I try to avoid them whenever possible.

Most Paragon decoders have a reset button on the board itself.  Did you do that, or are you trying to reset with your programming track

Yeah, Don't downgrade to a soundtraxx.  If you're going to spend the effort to do a swap, Do something worth while, and go with an ESU LokSound.....

Personally, I use ESU Loksound decoders for my diesels, and Soundtraxx Tsunamis for my steam.

I don't perceive a notable difference in the way the two brands perform, but, to my ears, ESU is much better with their diesel sounds, and Soundtraxx is much better with their steam sounds.  I purchased a sound-equipped Kato FEF-3 a couple of years ago that was equipped with a Loksound decoder.  I was unhappy enough with the sound that I only kept it for a couple of months before selling it.  My Soundtraxx FEF-3 installs are much better (MUCH) sound-wise IMO...and I know how FEF's sound since I've chased and recorded many hours of 8444/844 running.  The same goes for the 3985 and now the 4014.  How well does a Tsunami render other steam engine types' sound?  I don't know since I'm not too interested in other roads.  But, for UP steam engines, Soundtraxx is IT...

Thats the beauty of the LokSound. If you have the programmer, and you're not happy with the way it sounds, then change the sound files, Or projects. There is so many out there. I don't have the software or programmer, and usually just have Yankee Dabbler pre program what I want. I also believe you can replace individual sound files also, Like if you don't like the whistle, just replace the file.

IMHO, SoundTraxx decoders are like iPhones/Apple devices, Look Cool, Shiny and can do some cool stuff, But are locked down to what they want you to be able to do, Where as ESU decoders are more like android or Linux. They give you the framework, you make it do what you want. and if you can't, Others have, and it's not too difficult to make yours (Assuming you have a supporting programmer and software.)
