I was at the Rocky Mountain Train show today and didn't chat as much as years past but I did stop by MEs both for a bit and talked about the N scale track line.

I think it's known that they are looking at doing a #8 turnout, he also told me that a single crossover and yard ladder with the#6 geometry are on the table right now.

Kind of a funny thing that happened,  I was telling him about the old Shinohara turnout line (I mistakenly said Rivorossi) that had a yard ladder in it's line up.  A short while after leaving the booth someone had on the table the Shinohara yard ladder, double crossover, curved turnouts and the three way turnout.  Haven't seen those in a long time.  I went back and told him and he left to go check them out.

I also mentioned about offering turnouts without the spring mechanism to save some money.  He confirmed in his own poll that 70% of users take the spring out.  He didn't see it as something they they would do anytime soon.

Wasn't it code70?  I would have to dig up few turnouts I have stashed away to measure the rail.  I bought them because I liked that they did not have plastic frogs. The track looked like prototype track.

I had one Shinohara code 60 turnout on my last layout.  The rest of the track was Railcraft/ME flex with kit and handlaid turnouts, in code 55.  I finally took most of the ties off the Shinohara piece and replaced them with wood, just to get the tie spacing to match.  Other than appearance it worked fine with the code 55.

Was the Shinohara code 60 track intended for N scale use or for HOn30?

It was intended for N scale, but probably Japanese N scale.  The ties looked basically the same as most code 80 European-style track.

It would actually have looked better in HOn3, but, then, most N code 80 does to me.

Shinohara made code 60 HOn30 track. I few swipes of a file and it coupled to Code55.

I doubt they made the C60 just for HOn30.
