And I'm a big fan of RS27s. Last time I saw the 318 was 34 years ago on the Green Bay - New London line, in a lashup of three.

Apparently, the Commercial was bought out last year and the Alcos haven't moved since 2023.

July 2025, CP SD30C 5011 SD40-2 6042 and SD30C 5003 make their way to Castlegar from Trail with a good size freight. 2 old SOO Line hoppers first out. Railfanning in the Kootneys, gotta love it.

Some WNPY four axle 251 action:

421 and 430 returning to Olean on the Farmers Valley turn, passing through Westons Mills, NY., in July 2019.

421 and 430 (on the tail) northbound through North Eldred, PA., on an OL-2, which looks like it went to Port Allegany on this June day in 2019.

An ME-1 returning to Meadville behind 430 and 427 passing below the former Erie main over/under at Cambridge Springs, PA. The eastbound train in the morning had 431 and 432 for power, and they were swapped with these two off OL-1 from Olean at the Falconer Yard. Got all three C-430's on the Meadville job this June day in 2019... a good chase imo.

Man I really hope the Commercial’s new owners donate those Alcos, especially the RS27s, to museums. They’re too rare to not preserve! On a side note, I do love keeping up with all their switching and runs on SD457500’s YouTube channel

The only Alco shot I have available.

Georges Creek 303 wearing its almost original paint scheme (she was delivered to the WM in the venerable Fireball scheme).  After retirement from revenue freight service, she went to the Long Island railroad, denuded of her prime mover, and served as a cab car on push pull commuter service.

Here she sits in Barton, MD about 3 years ago, not far from the old Alco prime mover that the owner had hoped to drop back in and power up.  Sadly, the GCK went bankrupt.  I believe this got hauled out and delivered to Belington WV where it remains an unpowered dummy.  I believe there's been a cosmetic restoration done, and she'll get shoved around by the West Virginia Central's WM-painted F unit for photo runs.  (It's possible I'm wrong about that, they might have a different FA... But that's my story for now, so I'm sticking to it. :D
