N scale Bachmann smoothside baggage car - PRR Fleet of Modernism

Did Bachmann ever actually make the announced Bachmann Item No. 14456 — Pennsylvania Railroad #6051 — “Fleet of Modernism” (N scale) baggage car?

I ordered 3 of the Bachmann FoM PRR coaches and the matching observation car. But I've been unable to find the baggage car to match. I see the same artwork rendering around the web, but no direct evidence that it was produced or is available anywhere. Wondering if anyone can confirm.

I know in reality the smoothside baggage car is a foobie (well, the whole Bachmann FoM set is a foobie), but for the purposes of a fun T-TRAK layout and something sexy to run behind my BLI T1, I'm OK with all of that. SPFs know that a handful of B60bs got the scheme but I guess otherwise I would run them with a standard BM70M or something...

Huh. Interesting. I don't see them ANYWHERE on the internet as anything other than "sold out" or "preorder". Very weird!

Starting to look to me like it was announced but either not produced yet or cancelled... I guess a standard BM70M or B60b up front for me in the meantime.

The 2026 catalog doesn’t list them fwiw.

The Walther's dealer page shows it as sold out, but no photo or UPC number, so I'm going to guess it was canceled..
The rest of the baggage cars have a photo and UPC number except for some of the advanced order ones..

The rest of the smooth side series (including PRR FOM) have photos and UPCs..

This may be a shocker, but the observation is correct.  Or at least the closest prototype is PRR's FOM era Metropolitan View.

I picked one up to backstop an FOM early Broadway Limited set using the Centralia Car Shops FOM sleepers. 

(Now, it doesn't exactly match paint, and the Bachmann cars are slightly undersize, and yada yada yada... but that's what its prototype match is supposed to be!)

The baggage car was in fact cancelled due to not meeting MOQs. The smooth-side baggage cars are currently out of production, but there's always a chance we can reintroduce them down the road.

If non-prototypical models are acceptable, have you considered the FOM car set that Con-Cor made?

The fact that they come with a vista dome makes that set a bridge too far for me.

I was beginning to suspect that. In the end it's probably for the best, as it does sound like very few head-end cars actually got the FoM scheme.

It does sound like a few of the BM70Ms may also have been given the FoM treatment. But I should be fine running a plain Tuscan B60b or BM70M up front.

Also close to the Narrows series (Plan 4081A) that were also delivered in FOM paint (and "Napoleon Hat" trucks)



One of those painted as The Reveler (ex-PRR Jack's Narrows/Wake Island/William Vaughn Merrick) would look nice on the post-1971 Quad Cities Rocket...

Bachmann has really upped their game. They're beautiful.

I've been itching to get a set, but every time i turn around the observation sells out. granted... I still have not sourced a K4 or T1 yet...
or the S2 turbine... which I did buy in HO a couple years ago... that set me back...

Tyler, any insight from your end on the corrugated observation car?  On that one it seems to match a Rock Island prototype on the sides, but ended up with a different manufacturer's roof somehow.
