According to Hogtrainz, one of the two final M-T weathered cars will be in the Conrail family series: a patched ex Reading boxcar.

Going by the prototype pictures,  neither of the cars in question have graffiti.

The legality of the canvass has nothing to do with the creation of the art. "Obey" doesn't exist without Shepard Fairey; the wall it's stuck on is secondary. It's a wonderfully interesting topic. I don't approve of vandalism, but I also don't doubt the talent of great street artists. For me, the biggest hurdle to modern modeling is that I don't have the desire or time to tag my rolling stock.

There was a very ambitious attorney that signed up a bunch of artists that had prolific output including ICH and Eskay and Mecko that then sent Cease and Desist letters to all who 'dared' repro their art that that illegally placed on cars. To avoid legal action, several folks offered to license the art and give a small royalty to the artist, which would require them to give their legal name to make any contract legal.  Small problem. The artists refused to identify themselves, so there was no contract possible. So MTL and the NSE decided that all future graffiti releases would be original works to avoid any further waste of money on legal services, grey area or not.

There are many decorating rules out there. For example to get a license for UP and their collection of trademark roads you have to agree NOT to use any graffiti. Ask me at the convention why we were unable to continue our very popular NASA series.

I was under the impression (per @bbusey and wig-wag trains), the last MTL release would be December Mid-Month Weathered....

And from what I've been watching, most of the December stuff was delayed into the middle/end of the month..

Hard to believe they are doing another release..

Yup, we discussed that back few years when MTL stopped producing prototypical graffiti.

I'd love to know the NASA story. I enjoyed that series.

When it comes to graffiti, the stenciling on Conrail #60833 is so amateur it's like graffiti.
