Congratulations!  Good to see you figured out the not-exactly-intuitive picture posting on TRW.  Keep that research coming, so that TRW collective can help with the layout design.  There’s a lot of smart, talented people here.

It's definitely not the best picture posting method I've ever used, but it's not horrible!

I plan on it... going to be uploading some more pictures tonight!

Okay...so here's what I've got up to this point.

First off, my baseboard isn't final. This is all just laying it out before I start building. A reminder, this is being done in N scale AND N gauge. I'd love to do true narrow gauge but don't have the time, money or patience to make the rolling stock needed to complete it. Maybe later. Not an issue, as I have so much N scale stuff, and not wanting to invest any more $$$ at this time.

So here are 3 important images / sketches / maps of the DVRR I found while researching things. I'll post my version of the location after the "original" drawing, for comparison. Any suggestions on how to make this layout better are greatly welcomed. I plan on extending the long leg out another 12-24" to give that wye some more room but also add another foot or so of track.

Elevation will be "0" at DVJ, and will increase slightly to Ryan mine where I will have a large mountainside scenery, with the borax tipple in the side of the mountain, being fed from above by (hopefully) some Z scale ore cars.

This is my first go-around at a layout like this, and I'm not only thick skinned but also looking forward to any responses and suggestions.

Thank you!

First up is the one I posted before, an overview topo map that shows the DVRR running from Death Valley Junction down to Ryan (Lila C mine), but also heading west towards Colemanite and Devair (which would become known as Ryan, once the Lila C mine dried up). You can also see the Toponah and Tidewater Railroad that the DVRR ties into. The image after it is the best overall picture of my layout, showing both ends of the line in DVJ and Ryan. You can also see the Lila C spur, which was a simple in and out.

Next is the sketch of the Death Valley Junction wye, tying into the T&TRR, followed by my layout of the DVRR / T&TRR junction.

Next is shown the Ryan mine area (the "New Ryan" mine, not the old Lila C mine that used to be called Ryan  :D) and the wye, and following that is my "version".
