Instead of making my pictures all snowy, I've started to play with chatgpt and gemini to help with some modeling projects .. I asked gemini to create an architectural drawing .. it shows promise ..

Yea . . most definately --- but it is a relatively clean drawing that you can generate a .svg or cad drawing from .. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Very interesting.

The thing I'm concerned with is dimensions. It's good at making stuff that LOOKS right, but when it comes to dimensions it actually needs to be.

Wow, all of this is amazing!

Though yeah, not confident that the dimensions are correct even if the proportions are.

Interesting that the AI's dimensions for the front elevation and back elevation (same reference points) are 15' vs 13'  :D (of course, both wildly incorrect  :D)

Yea -- . but you do have doors and windows you can use to estimate .. also the siding planks are 4.5 - 5" most of the time .. also the ladder on the left side the rungs are normally 1ft spacing ..  so if you can get the drawing into the appropriate software, you can then adjust it based on known dimensions

It does give us more information though .. and with these structures following standard plans? it certainly provides a good starting point instead of using just pictures .. I'm sure it will get better

To get to this point, you can upload 3 images at a time .. I found it confuses the system .. so go for one side at a time and ask for an architectural drawing .. you can also clean up the image in chat gpt first .. I found it removes artifacts like telephone poles etc pretty well ..

The multi view proportions look VERY good IMHO (except for the roofline AI guess), so you only need three accurate dimensions (L,W,H) to proportion the rest in CAD.  Seriously, I would drop that into CAD, scale it to N with one known dimension, and design right on top of that.

This pic reveals that the hip roof does not come to a point and has a ridge across the main upper floor:


Trackside on the Pennsylvania, Vol.2 has HO scale tower drawings that reveal the floor heights and typical roof pitches used and some typical door and window heights and widths.
