That's basically what I thought.  "Loose car railroading" has largely gone to trucks and containers.

The reason I want to split them:
If I'm picking a car up, I want to know where it goes (Customer) but I don't need to know the track.
If I'm setting a car out I'd probably want to see both.. so no issues there.
If I'm switching a car inside a customer, I don't need to see the customer name in the From Track and To Track fields.

I haven't had a chance to watch your videos yet, so I may be bringing coal to newcastle :)

In JMRI, for spotting a specific location on a spur, they recommend using custom loads, such as paper rolls at the paper mill .. etc .. and also schedules .. all in all, its still a pretty good program ..

Exactly, and the last ideas of a shared national freight car pool died with the Staggers Act.

Even (some? Most?) cars in the TTX pool are assigned to specific member roads or customer pools.

One of the three reasons that I decided to model operations as of October 1979.
