Pennsy cabin cars roof/cupola color

I've see proto photos of only roof surface black, and of roof and entire cupola painted black, so I assume there was wide variation in how each  caboose upper=structure was painted thru the years (looking at a mid-'50s time frame).

Typically, PRR cabin car roofs were painted Freight Car Color until they developed leaks and then they were treated with black asphaltum paint.  Cupola sides were typically left Freight Car Color, but there are examples of cupola sides in black.  As always, it is best to work from prototype photos.

Thank you for making it so clear why some were one way and others the other! I had a decent sense from Jerry's site, but it now just "clicked".
