236th and Highland in Schneider, IN, October 2024. Working on getting the abandoned leg of the wye to resemble the prototype. Selective compression, of course. Not sure about these wire JTT trees. When I get the WS canopy and Supertress in, I will use them as fillers on the ends.

My collection was starting to go adrift, I have commercial models with boxes, several second hand buys without, my own 3D prints always without boxes. All this scattered everywhere, sometimes in danger to be damaged. I swore to myself that I would neither buy nor produce anything until some order restored.

First road name saved in storage boxes was Reading Company

Had an excellent time with a bunch of great N scalers at the Great Berea Train Show this past weekend. It was Free-mon’s first appearance in Cleveland, and both fellow modelers and the general public got a kick out of seeing prototypical scenes and the MSS signals in action. In between show days, @SAH was also kind enough to host us for an operating session on his AC&Y layout, which is always a treat to see.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to look for a decent pair of Crocs or New Balances to sport, before I exhibit at the next show with a concrete floor.

My understanding is 25 units are being rebuilt in-kind by NRE at Silvis.

I finished this Baldwin DT6-6-2000.
It’s the recently released printed shell from ScaleTraxx on an Atlas C-628/630 chassis. It has a LokSound Atlas Legacy decoder and an ESU 9x16 speaker.

Years ago we had a 'team project' going of doing this with a resin shell, the modified mechanism, etc. between three Atlas forum members including me.  I got as far as making the resin masters for the Baldwin sideframes, then it all ground to a halt.   Beautiful job.   At long last, done right.

But if you want to do another one, I'd love to see my wire handrails on it.

The printed rails are kind of convenient but don’t lend themselves well for painting plus they’re not quite correct. There’s supposed to be another step up just ahead of the cab. Wire would definitely be better. I may take you up on that offer later on.
This shell comes with printed truck sideframes intended to snap on the gear case replacing the stock part. I couldn’t get the trucks to run well so I sanded the sides of the stock frame flat then cut the printed side portions apart and after sanding them thin, overlaid them on the stock sideframes. It runs nicely.
I want to get some good video when we set up at the Chicagoland RPM meet in a couple weeks.

Ive been on them, nothing has been done to any so far that constitutes a rebuild. Dupont rebuild maybe.

I came out to Vancouver Island to visit some family and was able to convince some people to join me in a hike up to the Niagara Canyon bridge.

My wife told me the hike was “not as advertised” and I could see by the look is distain on her face that she did not enjoy the very steep climb. Hahah. Things like, “Craig, we were below these trees that we can now see over” were said. But once at the bridge she was suitably impressed. How can one not be!

Anyway this visit I brought my 200ft tape and focused on measuring all the masonry.







Sorry a couple are sideways. I tried to fix them.

Yikes, pin-connected center cantilever truss?  Looking at those connections...

Reminds me of the Youngs High Bridge over the Kentucky River, only sturdier.
