Now that this summer has quietted down from weddings, family functions, etc, I was able to work on a couple of freelance cars to run at our club and at shows. The ORW is our club road and is the Ohio River and Western. The prototype was the last operating narrow guage road in Ohio. The boxcar is the result of collecting the old Industrial Rail boxcars to paint X72's in PC and CR only to have both ESM and Atlas release them. Saw this freelance railcarr leasing decal over at Highball Graphics and decided why not? The roads will be/are railroads of friends of mine.  And what you don't see is I was finally able to power through and get the bench work finished for my layout except for the foam on top. Waiting for a p/u this weekend to make that run.

I got the open and partially enclosed autorack more-or-less finished  The base model is just the tri-level open version, with the option to add sides.  These were a bit tricky to 3D print.



Also got some decal design underway for them: 


I was hoping to do actual wiring, but before that I needed DPDT switches for cab control installed on my control panel.  I'm "disguising" them as "Call on Signal" switches, for each block 1 through 4, cab A or B.  When powered, the block occupancy light will be lit.  Not totally prototypical but looks ok I think, and functional for a model RR.

Tugboat is finally finished. Added a life ring, lower cabin windows, some Liquitex gloss medium water to the boat, and dolled up some brass handles, whistle, front ladder and spotlight pivot with a paint pen. 

Crew on board and ready to head out after dropping off a barge full of scrap cars behind her.









Nav lights are on now for the dusk launch.

I picked up a pair of Jackson Railcar tie loads. Very disappointing. First off, they were 4 n scale feet short of 50’.

One was a bad print, it was incomplete on the underside and was warped

I chopped the warped one, and spliced part of it to the better one. Then I painted it, dusted it with powders, and added a couple of real wood ties I had already dyed to the top. It turned out well after some work.

Good question. I have a mix of Athearn and TrainWorx gons (50’ interiors). It was wide enough, but way short for both. Who knows what they measured
