I went last year simply because of coincidental timing on our trip to see my parents.  Walked in thinking it was a train show... HOLY SH!T.. I was overwhelmed but the amount of stuff..

If I'm able to attend this year, I'm going to book the hotel Friday and Saturday night so I can stay a full day.

I'll be over on the Combined T Trak layout with the chief cat herder Dave Ferrari.

And if you want to participate in the Combined T-trak (no club affiliation needed) it's possible - PM me and I'll give you the contacts to join in, Dave is designing the layout and polling module owners right now.

Lots of Railwire guys there, all welcome.

I really thought this would be my year to make it to Altoona... but with the NER convention the weekend before, and then the NHRHTA convention the weekend before that, I'm just not in a secure enough position to be booking ANOTHER hotel room this fall. Have fun though, and hopefully I'll be able to make it next year!

Not this year, I'll be on Mainline Hobby Supply layout tours.  They need to move this away from Penn State football schedule. They as in the Altoona group.

I won't be attending this year, as we'll be travelling home from NC.  Bummer.

It's become more and more interesting that there is so much going on at the Blair Convention Center that we're running out of floor space.

Certainly did last year, and it appears that we're possibly constricted on available layout setup space.

We're come a long way since the gym in Bedford going back many years, when Mike Phillips panicked when they lost the gym lease, moved to Jaffa, Jaffa doubled the prices and ran out of space again, and now filling this location.   The Altoona Model Railroaders group has done a wonderful job with this.  AMR has named the show after Mike, a fitting tribute, and I miss him greatly.

WHERE IS ALTOONA?

Wow, this calls for a special ceremony by the Railfan Police for Conduct Unbecoming a Foamer.

How much of this show is running trains and convention vs shopping and buying?

All of it pretty much split evenly.
