Would be nice to see a FVM Hiawatha set again, they sold well, we could use another run.

But that doesn’t fit into the time frame….

Guessing GP40/GP40-2

Based off the GP30 getting the shrink ray, I think this is highly likely

Not sure on the 60's to 80's freight car, but I suspect the diesel is going to be a DD40AX. It fits the 60s to 80s time frame, fits their habit of doing big UP power, and it has synergy with the 2 runs of UP SD40-2's they have done so far, both of which have numbers from when they were geared to run with the Centennials.

If it is not a DD40AX, it's going to be a U33/36C, another loco that was gone by the end of the 80's and would dovetail well with their SP tunnel motors and BN and ATSF SD40-2's.

Anyone recently finish a loco kitbash of an unoffered prototype? If not, the logic of a DD40AX sounds good to me, or GP35s. They already have the mechanism to do the 35s from the GP30s.

Course it could be an N scale version of the J 611 they did in HO just to throw us all for a loop. It ran in the 80s

Highest probability for the earlier one: SD45. Lower probability: SDL39. They seem to follow the HO releases.

90’s: hoping for a redesigned GP60.

Cars… no clue. Maybe they’ll take the HO well car research and use it for an N scale car.

The Centennial (DDA40X, gentlemen) has been done recently enough to push it down the list. Bachmann did a respectable job in their last iteration, although I could pick nits (missing the rear ladder, for instance). At last count I think I have a dozen on (or near) the layout, they did that many unique numbers in three runs. I mean, I certainly wouldn't mind a ST version, but if we're going to do DDs, then the 35s would fill a big hole in 1960s+ UP double power, and the DD35 would be a hat-tip to SP.

As would the GE U50. ST had a chance to "simply" add the U50 to the product line based on the Standard turbine frame and mechanism, but a frame design snafu was caught too deep into production to pave the way. They have the running gear, though, so there's slightly more than a snowball's chance.

SD45 would make perfect sense. I've been a big fan since it was introduced in '66. Atlas' recent release is really decent, save for road-specific detailing.

I'm sort of voting for a GP35 due to compatibility with what was just done with the GP30. Atlas shell tooling is a little long in the tooth. Aside from the many on the UP, it could easily be a prelude to a DD35. A GP35-DD35-DD35-GP35 lashup in EMD demonstrator livery would fly off the shelves.

And Shane does do B units, ala the GP-30s.

RIGHT?! I would have figured that would have been done in HO already, but they went with the GP40. Since they haven’t tooled a GP35 in HO and they seem to port over research and market performance from HO to N, that’s what makes me think it would be the GP40.

Would love to see GP35. For a Southern modeler, a GP40 does not help me any. U boat would be nice, U30C and U33C would definitely be purchased.

GP38 or 38-2? Atlas has done lots of these and recently.

SD45? See above.

SDP45? Didn’t Rapido do one? I remember it being well received.

I need so much stuff that I can’t justify spending outside core needs so cool things like DDs or U50s just would not be helpful. And I have all the run through power I can use in any kind of regular operation at the moment.

But I will say that whatever it ends up being, it will be pretty. Somebody will buy it.

I'm only interested in the 60-80s announcements.  :)

I'm unsure on the freight car, but we will get either an SD45 or a GP40 for the locomotive (we always get what they have already done in HO as others have already mentioned). Probably the SD45 given that it has been around longer than the GP40 in HO. I'm okay with either option, and I hope that they eventually lead to an SD40 and a GP38 respectively, which would get me really excited. I'm a bit disappointed by Atlas' SD45 and don't see it as a competitor for a potential ScaleTrains offering.

Like others, I'd love to see a U33/36C from someone at some point (U36C for me). Great if it is from ScaleTrains. The U33/36C is surely now the largest locomotive gap in N, given the wide range of railroads that had either. I'd also like to see someone other than Intermountain do the SD45-2. That is now an option for ScaleTrains given that they now do the SD40-2. Intermountain did theirs 20+ years ago, have endlessly announced new runs but never delivered, and their model, which was marginal in terms of quality, is now well out of date.

Cheers
Doug

I'd guess an SD45-2 / SD45T-2... they already have the mechanism for it so why not.

My preference would be for an SD45, and they've already done it in HO... and that opens the prospect of an SD40.

A GMD version of the SD40-2 would be a real treat.
