From the ScaleTrains 06/07/25 email newsletter:

Join us at the National N Scale Convention in Kansas City, where we'll be making two days' worth of new model announcements.
  • On Friday, we'll have an all-new locomotive and freight car for 1960s to 1980s modelers.
  • On Saturday, we'll reveal an all-new locomotive and freight car for the 1990s to today.
In addition, we'll be hosting the Manufacturer's Breakfast, where guests will receive an exclusive Rivet Counter freight car.

My guess on the newer announcement is a redesigned ex-FVM GP60 and a well car of some sort. The older loco will be an SDP45. I hope.

I would doubt the SDP45, just because it was a rare locomotive, but would love to have a pair.  The GN used them regularly on their Big Sky Blue passenger trains, and they lasted for another decade in BN freight service.

60’s-80’s
- Guess: SD40, 40’ intermodal flat
- Wish: C-628, anything not a covered hopper

90’s+
- Guess: GP60, well car
- Wish: Dash 8-40B, well car

Still hoping for round 2 of the GP30’s with Penn Central variations.

And someday an RS3…

C855 & C855B. I talked with Shane about it a few months ago giving him a hard time about all that "weird UP $#!+" he does. We had a good laugh. However, and speaking of B-units, in that conversation he brought-up interest in a DD35 and DDA35. :scared:

Well, those do check the boxes of being both things not done before and being UP superpower are things people tend to buy regardless of what they model themselves.

Or "1920-to-1940", but that's never going to happen. Its not even well supported in HO.

OK, but they are going to need to add a customer service person to answer all the hate mail when people discover the DD35 won't negotiate their 9.75" radius curves.

Now understand if ST actually produces a DD35 and DDA35, I'm going to need a second mortgage. Absolutely iconic for my modeling era and region. I bought every number of UP GP30*, A & B, and I would absolutely do so with the DDs.

It's getting really out of hand when their audited balance sheet has a separate income line for "Mike C855B".

* - Incidentally, I had a non-modeler over to visit the layout today. I hadn't run it in weeks due to other big projects taking time and attention. I swear... the 35-car train sitting on the Afton Canyon portion with an A-B-B lashup dialed-up perfectly and ran as smooth as silk from throttle up. Not a lurch or hiccup. I was astounded. Guest was impressed.

Scaletrains just revived the FVM Silverside in HO on Friday, so I suspect the N scale version won’t be far behind.
