Latest NS heritage unit - D&H

I saw this in a post on Facebook last night, and wasn't fully sure if it was real or just someone playing a joke.  So I took a look on Trains.com, and sure enough, NS actually painted an engine in the D&H lightning stripe scheme.  They're saying it will lead an intermodal train into New England later this summer when that service starts.  Here's the link to the Trains post about it:
https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/norfolk-southern-shows-off-new-delaware-hudson-heritage-locomotive/

I think to say that it looks sharp is an understatement!

Nice, though this should probably be in the Prototype Railroads: News, Photos, Research section.  :D

Lol, no, it's actually licensed from the D&H HS.

We own the D&H Trademark. NS is licensing it from us under undisclosed terms.;)

Ah that makes sense!  :D

Good to see railroads who work with preservation societies, at least in some form.

I can only assume the undisclosed terms include a lifetime supply of frog juicers and a couple cases of whiskey.

This was posted in the "Crew" section (https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=59673.0), but  to me merits being viewed by anyone due to the coolness.  :D

The latest unit is in that beautiful D&H "lightning" scheme:

CSX has donated large amounts of since their purchase of Pan Am in 2022. One of the two wreck trains was donated to the 470 club, I'm not sure about the other. They're also giving the B&MRRHS a huge amount of corporate records and things like that.

Wow, that is B-U-T Full. I see my next custom paint, hopefully before it gets produced. Or maybe I'll just wait until it gets produced.
Oh, that's right, it won't get produced until I paint some.

NS has some very nice Heritage locos.  I see them occasionally south (east) of Kenova, WV.

They beat the you know what out of those smash meme freak schemes CSX paints. And a very classy move by NS to use it in old D&H territory first.

Considering how much money these heritage units print, I don’t think Murphy’s Law is going to wait around for your airbrush on this one  :D
