In the past year I have populated my n scale layout with about 30 or so lighted vehicles from EveModel. These are cheap, reliable and easy to install (already prewired with resistors). The only downside is that they are all of the same generic sedan, albeit in different colors.
With the advent of the looming tariffs last month, I decided to try out the WS Just Plug vehicles. I purchased 4 cars and 3 pickup trucks from my local hobby retailer. The trucks are fairly well detailed, the cars look no different than the Chinese imports. But my major disappointments (and why I will not be making any additional buys of WS vehicles) are cost and difficulty of installation. When one adds up the vehicle cost, 2 light hubs and an expansion hub, one needs a second mortgage. Definitely not a good value IMO. And the thin wires (about 100 gauge with painted on insulation) are darn near impossible to work with. Why not 24 gauge? It seems to work fine for Kato and others.
WS, if you are listening, this is not a bad idea in concept, but your execution leaves a lot to be desired. And your prices are outlandish. I'll be reordering more Chinese Camry's from David and EveModel now that tariffs have been rolled back, and try out some new colors on my own. Ron
