Alright! Onto the rear end.

89 spends half her time running backwards so making the tender look as good as the engine is kinda important.

To that end I have fabricated a platform for the backup light to sit on.

It's not as delicate as the prototype, but hey, this is N Scale.

I need to figure out where to get the footboards to go on the beam.

It looks like one of the options on the MRC/Model Power engines might have something close. Does anyone have a spare footboard pilot from one hanging around, by chance?

Terri has said "that's called growth, honey" numerous times while I've been telling her about this project.

Here's the latest: I said "model railroading is kinda fun when you're not striving for perfection".

Case in point: the air compressor. @mu26aeh printed me up a single stage compressor but when looking at photos for placement the big pipe into the cab really stood out.

So I did this.

The assembly is drying before installation.

Is that tender light a functioning light?

Not yet. But the appropriately sized LED is on the way from Evan Designs.

It'll likely only become functional when I install a new decoder, but I want to be ready.

Things had been largely quiet on the 89 project for a while but I've acquired the parts needed to make some more progress, so here we goooo.

A star of my roster deserves sound, so I'm putting in the work to make it happen. Luckily things fit pretty damn well.

That's the tender with a speaker, a decoder and the Next-18 adapter board from ESU in there. Perfect.

Since she's gonna be a star (and isn't going to be mixing it up with my freight car fleet regularly), she deserves the best in couplers too.

Luckily I have a friend who could use some of my "specific set of skills", so I'm doing the N-Possible.

More coming soon.

Nice!

Inside job on the N-Possible? So far, I've found the N-Possible couplers N-Possible to find.

Yep. It's an inside job.

But don't worry, they'll be available very soon.

I live 37 miles south of Strasburg. I get there often. 89 is a cute little engine and in Sept 2023 I paid them to let mom who was 80 at the time , drive her for 30 min.  I never seen an 80 year woman smile like she was 6 again.

Wait a minute. I think I live about 40 miles south(ish) from Strasburg. Where are you?
